Juan R. came out today and did a fantastic job. He analyzed and cleaned my system, which has an electric filter. He also observed that I had a small fan that was draining air into my attic on an ongoing basis, and that was probably worsening the air quality in my home. He recommended that I disconnect that, which he took the time to do. He answered all my questions clearly and knowledgeably.

Quick, friendly service. They always do good work and are very pleasant to deal with.The repair man Tony made sure I understood the issues all well becoming best friends with my dogs.Their customer service is also great. Madeline was very polite and called to check after my appointment to make sure everything was still working properly.I have used them before and I will use them again!

Installers Ivan and Nelson were great. They were right on time both days and their work was clean and efficient. They kept me informed on their progress and walked me through the new system. Andrew in the office was responsive to my emails and kept me updated on equipment delivery and potential installation dates. I am very happy with Kappl HVAC and highly recommend. Update 05/10/2022: Just had 6 month service visit. The technician, Christian, was courteous, clean, and friendly. I received a text the day before to confirm my appointment. I also got a text when the technician was on his way. Im very happy with the service.

I get a response right away when I call Kappl. The technician they sent today (Tony) is very nice and very professional. He’s been here a couple of times and each time he does a great job with giving me suggestions on how to make the system efficient and communicates any potential issues. Madeleine (she’s the person I’ve spoken with a couple of times) is very nice and professional over the phone. Very helpful and thorough with checking my account to make sure everything’s up-to-date.

I chose Knapp Air Conditioning Service based on the positive reviews, and I was not disappointed. I called first thing Monday morning and spoke to Christine who was super polite, was told that I would be the last appointment that day. Christine kept me in the loop as to when the technician would arrive. Tony Leon the technician who was dispatched to my home, was extremely courteous, knowledgeable and explained everything whilst doing his checks. He even handed me the part that he had, had to replace. My a/c was up and running prior to his departure, and he waited to ensure that the temperature was what it should be. It’s 88 degrees outside and I am very thankful and truly appreciate the fast service received. Great team work. Thank you!

My air conditioning unit quit working last night during the worst heat wave I can remember in a very long time. I left a message for Kappl that I needed help ASAP. First thing in the morning Juan was at my door with tools and ladder in hand. My A/C unit it in the attic. He quickly analyzed the problem. I needed a new motor. He managed to locate one quickly (which was a miracle considering so many other people are dealing with broken A/Cs in the San Fernando Valley). He immediately drove to the motor company, secured the motor, installed it and had my air up and running before noon!!I have been using Kappl for over 15 years. I highly recommend them. And a big thanks to Juan for his excellent work.

I have used KAAPL for years for system maintenance of my very old heating & AC unit and they were able to keep it running well past it’s expected lifespan. Finally last year I had them install a whole new system. They continue to do maintenance every 6 months to keep the new system in top shape - always calling to remind me it’s time - which I appreciate since I always forget to schedule. Tony came out today for my AC checkup and he is friendly, professional and very thorough. All of their employees over the years have been great.

10/19/2021: I was lucky to get Tony for my AC check up today. I have worked with him before on a couple occasions and he did a GREAT job (like he always does!) He was very patient with me, explained everything very clearly and was an absolute joy to work with. I have always had terrific service from KAPPL Heating & Air Conditioning thanks to great employees like Tony.Jason provided great service. Not only did he complete the requested work, he found an issue, brought it to my attention and fixed it for me all in the same visit. Thats what I call service!

This company has serviced our furnace and air conditioner unit for many years. They are friendly and efficient. The service man (Tony) who came today was especially helpful and took special care in making sure that our air conditioner was in perfect order.

Newly installed AC stopped working and I called Kappl to arrange for service. Madeline was able to have a technician come out that afternoon and Christian arrived on time as promised. Christian was polite and professional and quickly diagnosed the problem as a loose connector inside the AC unit. Greatly appreciate the fast service given we were facing triple digit temperatures here in West Hills. Great job!

My friend recommended me this place and I highly recommend this pace too. I’m so happy to receive service from Christian Vasques because he knows his job very well! We repaired our AC before but the technician never change filter or cleaned the AC although we paid enough money. Christian ,patiently, in the very hot day, worked for two hours on hour AC and didn’t charge us a dollar because our AC problem was eligible for using the city rebate. Madeleine ( nice lady) explained to me on phone that we can have a free thermostat too. So I had a great service with a great team without paying a dollar.

Kappl’s team was quick to respond to our call and sent technician Christian to our rescue. He quickly diagnosed our system and had the parts required with him. Christian explained the diagnosis and repairs to us and patiently answered our questions. He made sure the house was cooling down before he left. Despite the 110+ degree weather which made for a long day of hot repairs, Christian was in a great mood and saved the day. Thank you!!

Andrew called to ask if was ok for the tech to come early. Christian arrived and was friendly, respectful and efficient. He added R22 and cleaned coils of old heat pump to keep it going for a little longer. Changed filter. Checked air flow. I’m very impressed with Kappl. The people are nice, knowledgeable and easy to work with. Definitely recommend.

Tony L. was amazing explained everything clearly and with no pressure. I would definitely recommend this company for any future AC work. Had another company out the other day tried to scare us into adding new AC system for about twice as much as Kappl.

Update 8/30/2022- Michael, their service tech just performed our bi-annual system maintenance and I am very pleased once again with Kappl. He was timely, respectful, and pleasant. We wished to replace our existing 15 year old Goodman package unit (Heat and A/C in one unit on the roof) thus we researched various brands and local HVAC companies for weeks. Fortunately for us, we found Kappl. Rest assured, If you want a responsive, professional, informative, trustworthy organization to do business with, give Kappl a call. Christian showed up on time and was very professional and courteous. He diagnosed the problem, and explained to me the options and what my selection would mean in terms of longevity. That information influenced my decisions.Kappl actually came to me about 5 years ago as part of a LADWP program to check my system and install a Nest thermostat. They had positive reviews Yelp and I recalled my experience that first time and that influenced my decision to use them again.

We used Kappl heating and air conditioning to look at issues we were having with two different units at our house. Christian was on time, professional, and was able to solve both problems quickly and efficiently. There was no attempt to upsell or charge us more than the basic fee discussed on the phone. We really appreciate their service and Christian’s personalized attention to target a solution quickly. We will definitely use Kappl again in the future.

In the San Fernando Valley, were dealing with one of the worst heat waves this summer. And unfortunately our a/c stopped working yesterday afternoon and our old a/c guy was not available to come until NEXT FRIDAY but lucky for us, we were able to get into contact with Kappl.Not only was the phone call helpful but it was reassuring. The dispatcher told us we would have a person come by between 2-5pm the VERY NEXT DAY. I was dreading today since the highest temp says it would be 109. But we were lucky in more ways than one. Not only did the tech come at 2 but he was wonderful. Tony was helpful, efficient, and friendly. Josh was very responsive to my quest regarding services we needed. He went over everything and check out all aspects of its operation. He was a very knowledgeable HVAC person and I would not hesitate to have him out again. Kappl services our area and is the factory trained sales and service for our Trane system. Trane is the best. Consumer Reports rates Trane as the number #1 rated system for HVAC. Ours is about 12 years old and is still a really good system. Never had a problem with it before the other company screwed it up while doing electrical work. Kevin and his team were excellent! I got quotes from 5 different companies. We replaced our old Gas HVAC with a new TRANE heat pump system. It works great and the installers were very professional and really worked hard to make sure everything was done properly. Unit is quiet with zoning and we are very happy. Their financing option made it an easy choice. I would highly recommend Kappl.

Antonio from Kappl came in to change our A/C thermostat to a smart NEST thermostat. Tony came out to our church to give us a couple of quotes to either repair or replace our AC/HEAT system. The church was built in 1967 and Tony was not at all phased by the age of our system. He knew what he was doing and was a very helpful and pleasant fellow.

They were great! It was 120 outside on a Sunday holiday weekend and my 98 year old grandfathers ac stopped working, it was already 95 in the house and was very uncomfortable for my grandpa, so I called Kappl and she answered right away and said they would have someone here in 2 hours I was shocked! He showed up and got to work right away found the problem was the capacitor and a bad thermostat he had both issues fixed in an hour or so and the air was back on! Saving us from taking my grandpa to a hotel that night! Prices were pretty standard but it was a holiday weekend and a Sunday so needless to say we were very grateful! Thanks kappl will definitely use them again!

Kappl handled the DWPs AC Optimization program in 2 of my homes and made both experiences more than pleasant. The scheduler, Vincent, had a hard job since it depends on weather restrictions. We had to re-schedule several times (not the companys fault) and even when I got cranky, Vincent maintained his pleasant and helpful manner, apologetic but completely professional. Tony came out to do the work and was also professional, efficient and finished early, explaining the work and instructing me as necessary). It was a delight to work with them and I would, without hesitation, highly recommend them to all. Used Kappl for the LA DWP HVAC optimization program. Scheduling was done with Vincent, who was very polite and explained how the program worked. Received a call the day before as a reminder, and again, 15-20 minutes before the serviceman would arrive. Tony arrived right on time, explained what would be done and how long it would take. Again, everything progressed right on time. Would recommend their services again. Very professional, very friendly and very efficient.

Christian was a thorough investigator to the problem of the heater not working. After testing every wire and then some; it became clear that the circuit board was bad.A different company fix the AC but gave up investigating the heater. After experiencing The thoroughness of Christian I will gladly recommend KAPPL for their high standards of service.

If I could give zero stars I would and I said I used this business but in fact I only TRIED to use this business, as they were listed on LADWPs list of HVAC maintenance companies that could be called upon for the summer rebate to give a tuneup to the HVAC system, but after repeated attempts to have their service, they fell down every time like clockwork.Yes, things couldnt be more professional on the phone; yes, they have availability; yes, they call the day before to confirm (and in the first round of this, they even called to bump me up a day...only to then cancel the following day, which would become the norm).In the initial appointment, after moving me up, they then refused to honor my initial appointment (it had been given away). Ok, disappointed, I rescheduled weeks out, as it was still early summer. Then, I was again confirmed the day before when then morning of: tech was unavailable due to an emergency. With some displeasure but still cordial resignation to sometimes things happen, I rescheduled for another 2 weeks out. Then, day before, confirmed; and morning of: Tech called out sick. Exasperated, at this point I explained that this was unprofessional and I knew it was a little job on behalf of LADWP but it was wrong to keep adjourning me and taking on other jobs in the meantime. Youre welcome to go with another company, I was told politely...but as I explained, they were in my neighborhood, well reviewed online, and I was in months at this point and just looking to get the job done. We can schedule you for a little under two weeks out. I took the bait. Now, yesterday, appointment confirmed again. This morning, again, The technician called in sick.Im not the sort of person who likes to go online and leave negative reviews. In fact, it takes A LOT to get me to this place. But this company either is going through an atypical massive problem with its technicians or, to my mind anyhow, simply isnt interested in small-time business, was happy for the promotion on LADWPs website though, and is happy to book you for tune-ups just in case work slows and it is the only place to grab a buck.Now Im also sure its not atypical in the world of home repair contractors to be unavailable for work, but it has been quite awhile since I have had an experience this repeatedly bad. So my advice based on my experience: Caveat emptor! Kappl, thanks for nothing but a long waste of my time and failure to tuneup my system in the name of the energy savings rebate that led me to you in the first place. Never again!

Kappl tech said we needed a new compressor, the most expensive part. Two other companies sent out techs and they said the compressor was fine. One of them reset the pressure and everything has worked fine since. Kappl needs to hire more knowledgeable techs.Update! The company refunded my service fee. Thank you.

Michael did a great job. Very clean. Listened carefully as I explained the best way to enter the attic. Lets just say it can be tricky because of the way the house was built.Michael took his time to do the necessary work. I did not feel rushed as he answered my questions. I will be having him back to clean my dryer vent in the near future.

Vincent and Tony Leon were all about customer service. Fast, friendly, and detail-oriented. I did run into some issues setting up my Nest thermostat, and Tony was kind enough to call customer service for me and try to troubleshoot the problem. Definitely recommend for any HVAC work.

Kappel heating and air conditioning is a great company. We have them come in the spring to service our system for the summer and in the fall to check our system to prepare for the winter . They are always prompt, courteous, and efficient. Their service people wear mask and shoe covers and always professionally explain what they are going to do and when finished explain their findings. We are extremely satisfied with Kappel!

Took advantage of a DWP plan for a new nest thermostat and heating and air inspection. Was lucky to find Kappl. Vincent and Tony are professional, friendly and knowledgeable. They are now my heating and air company I will always use!! Thank you!!

I gave them 5 stars originally, but am very disappointed. They came out and for $475 fixed my dead system, and we were so happy. 7 weeks later it died. They charged us another $150 to come out and tell us we needed a new system. After 10 days w/o AC they came to give us a bid. It took 3 days to get the bid even though they knew we had not had AC in all that time. In the meantime we got another apples to apples bid because we were so frustrated (and hot). Without addressing the $625 we had given them for repairs, the bid was 10% higher than the other bid, and never even mentioned the Trane bundle discount that was available at the time. The guy who came out to give us the estimate said we would get a $300 credit for the repairs. It wasn’t in his bid, but even if it was, he still would have been $500 higher than the guy we went with.

We thought your guy knows about air conditioner for a higher fee he charges. He fiddled around for 45 min. or so, without fixing my air conditioner. He said to call an electrician and charged us $89 and left.When I called around, I found out that an electrician does not do low voltage that air con. requires. We found a new guy who knows electrical and air con. He came and after he determined that the voltage is not going to the unit, he went straight to my circuit breaker. He fixed it in 5 min. !!!

We were very pleased with Kappl for the replacement of our 22-year-old HVAC system with a heat pump system. We chose Kappl after interviewing 3 contractors. Kevin Kappl checked out our old system, measured every room to calculate the required size, and inspected the ductwork in the attic. He explained the alternatives and prepared a detailed proposal with links to the manufacturer’s comprehensive information. The proposal included the required building permit, California-mandated HERS efficiency testing, and city inspection. (Another contractor told us we could save some money if we skipped these required steps.)We chose a variable-speed Trane heat pump system for both heating and air conditioning. Because the system was installed in November, we haven’t used the air conditioning after initial testing, but the heating system works well and the thermostat is easy to use (and to control from our phones).The installers did an excellent job. They were punctual, efficient, and professional; they left the area very clean after the first day and after completion on the second day. Christine Kappl kept us informed of the plan for the estimate, installation, HERS testing, and inspection, and sent us a detailed invoice with model and serial numbers for each system component.In summary, we recommend Kappl without reservation.

I only met him when he arrived on time to do some maintenance on our AC unit, but he immediately was friendly, professional, and interacted with me as if we were already really good friends. I have had only the best experiences so far with Kappl heating and Air.. Kappl installed a package heat pump system which handles both heating and cooling for us.The initial bid was very transparent and well laid out, and it beat the next bid by $800. All the people I worked with have been very responsive. Theyve kept their appointments meticulously. During the actual installation, I found it very easy to talk to the individuals with any questions I had, and got clear helpful answers. Ivan was terrific during the installation process when I had particular needs. When he found that the ducts could have been laid out a little better I was amazed when he told me theyd make the (modest) changes at no extra charge. Tony was very helpful with the initial inspection and follow up. He was absolutely on the mark when he advised me to replace the system rather than repair what was really a old and not very well functioning system. Andrew ran the whole thing very smoothly from the back end office, and I always felt that I could call him up when I had questions that needed elaboration and get a clear answer.And now, a couple of weeks in, the new system has been functioning so much better than what we had before.

Christian was here on Wednesday to install a Nest thermostat, service the A/C unit and clean the furnace burner build-up. He was very professional and thorough. I shopped around for a new heating and air conditioning system a few years back and got quotes from from all of them. We chose Kappl for more than a few reasons. Fast forward to today.... they just just completed their summer A/C maintenance service and again I feel compelled to let other people know about the experience. I got a text and a phone call from Jenni this morning as a reminder which I was very happy about (because I forgot) and when the service tech Jason knocked on the door (about 40 minutes later) he greeted me with a “Hi Rick, it’s nice to see you again!I was very please because after my winter (the heating routine maintenance) I had him and he was very thorough, knowledgeable as well as nice guy. (I will request him again). I renewed my maintenance contract again because this is an A1 company! Do yourself a favor and give Kappl (a family business) a shot when you are shopping for a new system. You might get a lower quote elsewhere and by all means they were NOT the highest.I just had a complete new roof installed on our home and went with the lowest quote and was regretting it on their 3rd day on the job. I guess we all make a major mistake in our lifetime. With Kappl, You can’t go wrong!!

Long before I ever signed a contract with his company, he came out to my place three times to answer questions and to help determine the optimal installation for my home. We opted for a heat pump to replace our ancient a/c and gas heater, and they removed the old system and installed the new one in just 2 1/2 days! We have used KAPPL for years and have always been very pleased. Our heater stopped working last night. I left a message for KAPPL at 7:30 this morning. They got back to me really quickly, and had a tech (Christian) at our home by 9:30 am. Christian determined that a recent earthquake had tripped our gas, and our heater happened to be the first thing affected. When we checked our hot water, we realized it went from being hot yesterday to tepid today. Not only did Christian go on the roof to reset the HVAC system, he even restarted the pilot light to our hot water heater. We started getting heat right away. Really great and amazing service. Currently the new Manager of this location so was not sure of what to expect. They called me a few days prior of them arriving and was told what day and time they would be arriving. We open our location at 10AM and they were very considerate of that and arrived at 7:59am! that to me is amazing because that gave them time to do anything and everything they needed along with leaving no trails they were ever here. I have used Kappl a few times for regular maintenance and repairs to my AC system. Chris the technician today did a good job and was pleasant to work with. He was thorough with his work and made an effort to make sure I had no questions or issues before leaving.

Christian saved our lives today! This is by far the best air conditioning company I have ever used in the 20 years I’ve been in this house. We have a new Trane system installed less than one year ago by another company who refused to service it for almost two weeks because they only have one technician that works on units under warranty. He came on Wednesday and couldn’t figure out the problem. It failed again 45 minutes after he left and the company refused to come back until 6/14/22. So, I called KAPPL yesterday and spoke with Andrew who got me Christian by 9:30 today. Christian figured out the problem in less than five minutes and got me up and running again. His customer service beats anything I’ve seen in recent years!!! I would recommend this company in a heartbeat! And even though my unit is under warranty with another company I am considering buying KAPPL’s maintenance agreement just so I know I won’t ever be sir conditioner-again! I can’t thank this company enough!

Two weeks ago during the heat wave, my AC was not cooling. Called Kappl for diagnoses, technician Eric came and found that condenser motor was not working. He ordered new part and fixed AC during the heat wave. Great Job!Kappl installed my new AC system back in 2014. Professional team, honest people, very satisfied with their service. A+

I could not be more pleased with my experience with Kappl. Our tech Tony was so helpful and he took the time to answer all of my questions and explain everything he was doing and what our system needed. He even got us a DWP deal for a new thermostat and filters. After having terrible experiences with other companies who tried to rip us off I feel lucky we found Kappl and Tony. Kappl was our savior. It was Sunday, 9/7/20 at 5 pm. The temp. outside was 120 and our A/C went out. The house temp. rose to 88. We called our children looking for a place to stay the night my so told me to call Kappl Air. I said it was Sunday night and no one would out. My son said he would call for me, my son called me back and said they would be hear at 8 pm. A tech named Eric came. After examining my A/C, he explained the problem and gave me a quote. He repaired the A/C. Eric was a true professional.E

Advice! Get a few quotes after getting their over priced estimate.Not only is it over priced, i had another company come by and replace a broken part in my outdoor AC. He replaced it and had it working within an hour of his arrival. Wouldnt recommend them to anyone.

The company doesn’t apply their diagnosis fee towards service repairs as other companies do. They just charged me $340 to install a part that costs no more than $40. Other companies came in with bids on the same job up to $200 less. They are capable and efficient but hugely overpriced. If you don’t mind paying the premium go with them. I personally feel like a company that takes advantage of people in a desperate situation (no AC in a heatwave) should at least have their star rating reflect this behavior.

Needed a completely new system for my house. I had 4 different A/C and Heating companies come over to my home and go over my needs and give me a quote. After speaking with all 4 at my home it came down to 2 and after receiving the estimates and reviewing everything with the 2 reps, I felt the most comfortable with Kevin and his company, Kappl Heating and A/C. His quote was competitive, he is very knowledgeable, courteous, and has a priority on customer service. I am an airline pilot so I pay lots of attention to detail and Kevin does as well. No question was too small for him.He and his crew began the work on time every time! Small things would come up as usually do with these type of things in the home and he always resolved them to my satisfaction and without nickel and dimeing me! His quote was his quote and that was it. He is a man of integrity and his crew worked very hard, was courteous and professional.
